Day 1:
Early in the morning we will start our trip heading towards North-West National park Madhupur Garh, also called Garh Gazali, a forest extending approximately 100 km north and south in east-central Bangladesh.  It is a slightly elevated area of older alluvium between the Meghna and Jamuna (Brahmaputra) rivers. We will explore the jungle through trekking path.

The Garo (or Mandis as they refer to themselves) of Madhupur Garh are the descendants of swidden cultivators who migrated from the interior Garo Hills in Assam in northeastern India. While some anthropologists speculate that the Garos entered the area in the later part of the 19th century, the Garo tribe views Madhupur and its forests as their ancestral lands.

Overnight at Mymenshingh

Day 2:
Today we will drive back towards Dhaka. Before we leave we will visit Muktagacha palace which is built by Sri Krisna Chowdhury in 1727. Muktagacha palace is the finest example of neo-classical architecture with distribution of indigenous elements. Currently the middle block has been used as Muktagacha College.

We will also visit Sashi lodge which was established by Maharaja Surya Kanta Acharya and named after his son Shashi Kanta Acharya. Entering the compound there lays a U shaped building with a grassy lawn which consist an ornamental marble fountain containing a classical white stone “Venus” statue.

Don’t forget to taste Mymenshingh’s Special “Monda” sweet.

Drive back to Dhaka.
